Spiced Pecans

These spiced pecans have an addicting balance of salty and sweet, with a hint of spice and a toasty decadent richness that is perfect for the holidays. They're naturally dairy free and use egg white instead of butter and less sugar but still just as delicious!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups pecan halves about 1 lb.
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 Tbsp. water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300°F (148°C).
  • Stir sugar, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, and salt together and set aside.
  • in a separate bowl, combine egg white and water and whisk for about 2 minutes until egg white is frothy. Add pecans to egg white mixture and mix together with your hands to evenly coat the pecans.
  • Move the egg-coated pecans to the bowl with the sugar mixture and toss to coat.
  • Arrange the in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast for 25 - 30 minutes, stirring about half way through.
  • Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes in the pan before removing pecans.
